Home Video Master
We turn your home videos into movies
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be involved in making my movie?
Yes.  It's your movie.  You can give us specific instructions such as which scenes to use and in what order.  You
set the tone or mood of the film by telling us how it should feel as you watch it.  You tell us what music to use in
the background.  If you like, you can even add your own voice over narration.  Contact us to explain how.

Do I have to get involved in making the movie?
No.  If you feel that you are not the "creative type," or you just don't have the time to get involved, let Home Video
Master put your movie together with only minimal instruction from you.  Simply tell us whether the movie should
be fast or slow paced, happy or sad, funny or serious.  We can take it from there and give you an outstanding
finished product.

What types of video do you accept?
We accept MiniDV, DVCam, Digital 8, Hi-8, 8mm, and VHS and all video file formats.

How long will it take to make my movie?
From the day that we receive your videos and photos in the mail, we can complete your edited movie in
approximately 5 business days.  You will receive your DVD in the mail within 1-4 days after completion
depending on how long it takes the mail carrier you choose to deliver the package.  If you are in a hurry, we can
complete a rush order in about 1-2 days for a an extra fee.  You can have it delivered overnight via Federal
Express, DHL, or Express Mail at your expense.

How do you determine the cost?
Video editing is very time consuming.  The process involves watching all of the raw video first, then figuring out
what to use and where.  Planning what to do and setting it up takes longer than actually doing it.  That's why we
charge according to how much media you give us.
Our platinum DVD package entitles you to send up to 120
minutes of total video, 20 photos (on photo paper), unlimited photo files (jpeg files) and 5 miscellaneous items
such as newspaper or magazine articles, certificates, etc.  Our standard packages are flexible, however if you
need to give us significantly more to work with there will be an additional fee.

What exactly is a movie?
What we call a movie is actually a short film.  Most of the movies we make are between 3-10 minutes.  With the
emergence of popular websites such as YouTube.com and iFilm.com, there is an unprecedented demand for
entertaining short films.  The movies we create are ideal to share with family, friends or the entire world over the
Internet.  If you need a movie longer than 10 minutes we would be happy to make it for you, but not for the same
rate we charge for a short film.

Will you help me upload a copy of my movie for sharing on the web?
Yes.  After we create your DVD, we can put the movie (minus the chapter menus) on whatever website you
choose (provided there are no legal issues) on the Internet.  If the file is small enough (short enough film), we
can even email you a copy of the movie so that you can forward it onto friends.

Will the DVD have chapter menus?
Yes.  Your DVD will function the same way as the ones you buy with Hollywood movies on them.  Your chapter
menu will be animated with moving thumbnails that you can click on to bring you to a specific point in the film.  No
need to fast forward or rewind.  Plus, you can put more than one movie on the DVD and access all of your movies
with ease.  This is a great way to keep all of your home videos organized.

How many minutes of video can fit onto one DVD?
The typical DVD can hold up to 2 hours of video.  There are ways to store more minutes, but not without
sacrificing quality.

Who pays for shipping my media to Home Video Master and back to me?
You do.  This way you can use whatever mail carrier you trust and you don't have to worry about us marking up the
price of shipping like some companies do.  Feel free to use your shipping company account number.

Do you do high volume DVD copying?
Yes and no.  We do not make DVD copies in large numbers, but there is a third party company that we use that
can.  The rates are very competitive.
